Meridian Petroleum Group is a Cape Town brokerage running two desks — fuel cargo across SADC ports, road freight across Southern African corridors. Small by design: narrow, deep, and worth trusting.
Who we are
We sit in the long tail of the cargo market: the parcels, lanes and corridors the big houses don't service and the group chats can't be trusted with. The fuel desk watches 13 SADC ports daily for slow-moving and distressed parcels and brokers them to licensed importers and terminal operators. The freight desk brokers loads across Southern African lanes to carriers it has vetted itself. Both desks run on the same spine: verify the counterparty, paper the deal, execute visibly, keep the record.
A broker and intermediary. We do not take title to cargo or goods, we do not own trucks or vessels, and we do not hold your money. Our product is verified introductions — and the document chain that keeps every party honest.
We are not an "allocation holder", a "mandate" in a layer cake, or anyone's "direct to refinery" miracle. If you're looking for double-digit discounts under Platts, we're the wrong desk — and we'll say so on the first call.
Saldanha, Cape Town and Durban on the west; the SADC import economy on the north. Cape Town sits in the middle of the routes we work — and the time zone works for both Asian owners and European desks.
Fuel discharged at a port becomes a road freight problem the same week. A fleet that burns diesel is a fuel relationship. The desks feed each other — and each makes the other better at its own trade.
Eight rules, built from the documented scam patterns of this industry. They protect you as much as they protect us.
No fees, bonds or "registration costs" change hands before a deal exists. Ever.
Layered mandates get everyone robbed. Our chains are two deep, maximum, and the principal is always reachable.
Real cargo trades near the benchmark. Miracles are bait — we hang up politely.
Vessels by IMO + live AIS. Carriers by CIPC + insurance + licence. Claims we can't verify don't enter the funnel.
NCNDA first, IMFPA before the introduction does any work. Paper protects both sides of a first conversation.
We stay in our lane: introductions and execution support. You deal with the principal directly under the protections.
